What is the one thing we are all taught to fear? (DEATH) Why are we taught to fear death? We fear it because it is an unknown that we can only experience. We will all face death one day, the only question is when. So I want to go over a few things people believe and say about death.
Now if you do not believe in God or an after-life then there is no reason to fear death? After all, if there is no God (according to you) then there is no after life, right! So when you die you will remember nothing because it is all over for you. You are just gone and you exist no more. So why fear what you will not remember anyway? So I suggest that you live the best life you can and enjoy this life all you can as this is all you have.(according to you)
I do however have a problem with those who say there is no God or afterlife. You say you do not believe in God but apparently you do not what anyone else to believe in God either. Why? If you believe that this is all you have and there is nothing beyond, why do you care if others believe in God? Why do you fight so hard against those who believe in an afterlife? If you are right, you are fighting a battle with idiots. When it is all over no one will remember what you said and what you did or who you fought against. What is the point? You are wasting your life in an effort that benefits no one. No one will remember your arguments, reasons, fights, losses, wins and neither will the others who believe in God, if you are right. What a total waste of your energy and time. You are like a football team that is the only team on the field, there are no fans in the stadium, no TV cameras recording the event and you are playing as if you are in the Super Bowl. What is wrong with this picture? What does this say about you?
Your arguments and reasons lead me to believe that either you are afraid you are wrong or you know you are wrong. Which is it? If you are afraid you are wrong, why are you fighting against those who may be right? I suggest you find out if your fears are justified or not. Fighting everyone and everything will not get you the answers you are looking for. FEAR (False Evidence Appearing Real) do not let fear run your life and destroy it. Find out by really studying and seeking what is true and what is not. In John 8:31-32 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are my disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. Seriously, why fight something you fear with so much vigor. If you are wrong, what prize do you win? Is your life so empty that you cannot think of some better way to live your life? Why run from something you fear when you can be free and live in peace in your short life here on this planet. You are wasting your life, your relationships and all you know on an unknown. Is that really how you want to live your life? What you are doing is a total waste of your time, abilities and intellect, unless of course, you are wrong. I suggest you find out for sure if you are right or wrong.
Now comes the ones who say there is no God, no heaven, no hell but they know they are lying. Yes they are ok with all the other religions and gods that are talked about? They say that those who believe in Christ should not be able to spread their message, but say nothing against the other religions doing the same thing. Why? They have to know something about Christ and what He can do for us that the other gods cannot, including the one they serve. Maybe there is only one that needs to be fought against. We know that they know the truth and are trying to hide that truth from everyone else, but why? We read in the New Testament that Christ confronted the Pharisees who hated him and they looked for ways to kill him. Why? We get our answer in Matthew 27:18. For he knew (speaking about Pilate) that they had handed Him (speaking of Christ) over because of envy. They lied about Christ because of what He stood for and all He was doing and could do for the people. They (speaking of the religious leaders) could not heal the sick or the lame, they could not open the eyes of the blind and they never raised the dead. They were only concerned with hiding what Christ could do for everyone and that He might become more important than they thought they were. Instead they looked for ways to spread lies and try and catch Christ saying something that they could use against Him. Christ confronted the religious leaders of His time and exposed them for what they were and who they were working for. John 8:44 “Youare of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.” Just like the Pharisees of Christ time, these same people know the truth and they are lying about what they know because of who they work for. They know that there is a God in heaven and that there is a hell. They may even tell you they believe in a higher power but it is not Christ. Why? It is the same story over and over. Satan has come to kill, steal and destroy, but Christ has come to give life, health and peace to all who will call on His name. It is the same fight, just a different stage with different actors, or should I say victims. They work for Satan and Satan wants everyone to go to hell and he will use anyone to achieve his goal. Remember he is a deceiver (liar) and many follow him because they are likewise deceived. However, there are also many who serve him willingly and with great fever. They serve their father the devil (also known as Satan their god) with all their heart.
They are sold out soldiers for their cause and you see them working fervently to that end. These people need to be fought against in every way as they lie about everything and cannot be trusted in anything. Do not be deceived there is a hell and it is real. Eph 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. We need to know and accept the truth because only it will set us free.
As Christians, we are also taught to fear death. The question is why? As Christians we know where we are going and it is a much better place than here. Yet we moan that our loved ones have left us. We cry that they have gone on to a better place without us. Yes they have and we should rejoice in that fact. They will never again suffer death or anything else and God Himself will wipe away their tears.
Isa 25:8 He will swallow up death forever, And the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces; the rebuke of His people He will take away from all the earth; For the LORD has spoken. I understand when we lose a loved one we do miss them. But to allow ourselves to be so lost or resentful that we destroy our lives and the lives of those around us because of the loss we feel is falling into Satan’s trap. What does that say about us? Sounds more like selfishness than sorrow. If they have gone to a better place then why are we not rejoicing and looking forward to the day when we join them? Why all the fear and anger? Remember we have an enemy and he wants us to wallow in a pool of selfishness and self-pity, to lose all we are in Christ and destroy our witness. Maybe the reason for the anger or fear is that we are not sure if we will be joining them in heaven. If you are unsure, then you need to get sure. Stop listening to the lies of the devil and trust what God has already told you. John 3:16 Also read John 3:18-21.
Above all we can trust God for He is not a man that He can lie. Titus 1:1-2 Paul, a bondservant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect and the acknowledgment of the truth which accords with godliness, in hope of eternal life which God who cannot lie, promised before time began. Also in Hebrews 6:17-18 Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled to refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.
The only one we can truly trust in is the true and living God and His son Jesus Christ.
